Gonna eat some worms

When my sister was a little girl, she used to sing the old kid’s ditty “nobody loves me, everybody hates me, I’m going to eat some worms.” George Bush must have that song stuck in his head.

He has a majority of Congress opposing him and his war (including some Republicans), he has little support for his embattled attorney general Alberto “Waterboard” Gonzales, the American people are against him, as is world opinion, and now even the Supreme Court—which installed him as president in the first place—has rebuked him on climate change
.
The Supremes pointed out that the Bush Administration does have the authority to regulate greenhouse gasses, as previous presidents seemed to realise without prompting. A cynic might think that an administration filled with oil men might have a little problem enforcing standards that might hurt their industry and the industries of their buddies (like the auto industry). Since I’m not a cynic (no, really!),I couldn’t possibly comment.

The pathetic thing in all this isn’t the image of George wandering around the White House in Mickey Mouse pyjamas humming “nobody loves me, everybody hates me.” No, the pathetic thing is that we’re all still stuck with George, worms and all, for another 21 and a half months. I worry that eating worms isn’t all he might get up to in that time.
